Ed wants to practice his African skirmish for Historicon tomorrow night so I yeild to him as the Con has precedence. This will be using the Vignette rules. Ed also mentions we should playtest Jeff’s French and Indian War game next week. Historicon is almost on us.

Dungeons and Dragons

I am working on a fantasy role playing game have been looking at rules to use for running it and like what I have been hearing about the new edition of Dungeons and Dragons. The complaints about it are that they have simplified it and made it more miniatures based, both of which appeal to me as I found the last edition to be pretty convoluted and with mechanics that made the game more about playing the rules than running a roleplaying game. As Chort is off next week would anyone mind a quick playtest of the rules? This wouldn’t be a campaign just a quick run through to look a the mechanics of the game.

There is a lot of mention of people hating it, but I couldn’t find any really bad reviews in a quick search, I suspect a lot of the hate is message boards, where hate is the native mode for many. Anyway, anyone mind a quick rules playtest on Monday?

Monday night, at CHORT’S house.

We are painting/assembling miniatures and spreading untruths and scandalous rumors.

For a small fee (i.e. a request) I can bring a portable video pl;ayer and we can watch something on it while we toil.

Historicon 2008

It is never too early to be thinking about Historicon and we have submitted our games hopefully to make the Preliminary Events Listing which should be mailed out soon. I will be running a couple of games of Something Has Gone Horribly Wrong With The Safari as I attempt to tweak my version two of the Tanzanica rules. Brendan will be running his French Foreign Legion game, Ed is doing Pulp I think, Jeff is doing French and Indian War and I am not sure about Tim. I am also putting together stuff for a flea market table at some point during the weekend. Preregistration opens for the convention on May 15th.
