Historicon 2008: Day Three
Posted by Brett on July 26th, 2008 filed in Conventions, Miniatures, News, TipsAnother day another three safaris massacred in horrible ways. Four of the seven brave expeditions that set out survived to claim glory, or at least book deals. Both games were great with really good players who took their inevitable dismemberment well, it makes a huge difference at a convention game if everyone pitches in with a good attitude and I was lucky to have great players all weekend long and that makes running games very easy indeed.
At the dealer hall we had another great day at the Warlord Games table, it was old home week with me being in one place for so long I got to catch up with a ton of people I used to work with or have gamed with over the years. I was embarassed a few times by people I should have recognized and didn’t, but most people who run into me more than once know that I have the memory of a tree slug and forgive me. Otherwise a busy day talking about Warlord’s great figures and , oh yeah, sneaking a shot of the really cool Testudo figure they are coming out with. Ha! I will not be denied!

If you missed the article at the Warlord Site on their new Army Painter products, they really do produce some amazing results. I spent the weekend looking at the armies from the article, and they honestly do look great even in person. Often I am pretty suspicious of things like this on the internet, as on the internet it is pretty easy to put lipstick on a pig and people just won’t know. Once I saw these guys I spent the weekend pushing the figures into people’s hands as it both instantly proves how sharp and detailed these figures are and how well the army painter stuff works. It really does look great. I will be honest and say I haven’t painted with it yet, but I intend to as soon as I can I will post up my results so folks can see what a nobbly painter like myself turns out with the stuff rather than what the pros do.
Edit: Bah, Paul has launched his counter-strike, photos of the painted Testudo here.
