Historicon 2008: Day One

Posted by Brett on July 24th, 2008 filed in Conventions

Very busy day in the dealer room, I spent the day helping John from Warlord Games show off their brilliant plastic Romans and Celts as well as there metal auxilary figures. Easy work as talking about nice miniatures isn’t hard and we weren’t selling anything, just showing them off. They have some very pretty figures coming up for release, an excellent Roman Testudo figure made of resin parts, some great Celtic chariots and cavalry and some nice Roman small seige weapons. They also have some Roman Veterans coming up as well as some praetorian guard but both were not ready for the show so we just have art of them. I will try to snap some photos tomorrow if I can.

I have armored myself against buying new figures at the show by organizing all the figures in my ‘to paint’ pile just before leaving for the show so I haven’t wandered around and looked for figures to tempt myself but the dealer room is was very full and I asked people what they were buying as I talked to them and got to see some of the cooler new figures out like Artizan’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang spy miniatures (carried in the US by Brigade Games), the new guys from Pulp Figures and very nice American Indians from Conquest Miniatures in their 500 Nations line. Some very nice figures but so far I have remaned strong and purchased nothing, we will see if I hold out…
