Historicon 08: Day Minus One

Posted by Brett on July 24th, 2008 filed in Conventions

So I went up to Historicon a day earlier than normal this year and spent the day doing stuff I never get to do at the con normally. Went to the pool and took my son and nephew across the street to play Mini-golf at Dutch Wonderland’s Mini-Golf course. Very nice not to be rushing like crazy first thing on arrival. Left the kids watching a Pinky and Brain DVD and went down to the bar to meet up with some friends and spent an hour chatting with them and helping them get their exhibitors stuff in the dealers room. Fortuneatly my father in law was about and he knows the dealer room better than anyone so we were squared away in no time. The convention looks like it will be a busy one. They opened registration last night and the lines filled the lobby. There was a bit of gaming going on in the big room and in the bar, board games in the bar and a nice US Civil War battle and double blind World War Two battle in the main gaming hall. Not bad for before the convention is even really open, looks like this year will be bustling.
