One Word, Plastics
Posted by Brett on April 15th, 2008 filed in MiniaturesI forgot to bring the new Perry Civil War figures with me last night but I have picked some up and they are very nice indeed! I paid about $33 a box for them from the Age of Glory guy which puts the figures at under a $1 each but that included a healthy dose of postage so they will be an even better deal at a con. There is a flood of new plastics coming up for historicals in addition to the Perrry’s Warlord Games also have some beautiful figures coming out in May, starting with Roman Legionaries with Roman Veterans and Elites to follow then Celts all coming out in the next couple of months. They will be more expensive than the Perry figures, but still around a dollar a figure so not a bad price by any means. In addition to all of these we also have Wargames Factory producing Romans and Celts in plastic as well and promising shipment in May for the Romans. The detail on the Wargames Factory guys looks a bit soft to me, but it could just be poor photography, however their pricing is the cheapest of the lot with a box of 48 guys running $30. The Wargames Factory guys seem to be associated with Osprey publishing and their new game Fields of Glory. I would lean more towards using Warhammer Ancient Battles if we want to game with the flood of new Romans and Celts, but I am open to trying other rules.

BTW if we want to try the regimental rules out for Fire and Fury let me know.
