Whats Up
Posted by Brett on April 3rd, 2008 filed in Conventions, Game Reports, MiniaturesA long time with no updates, at least from me. For quite awhile I had to stay away from the site as I worked for Games Workshop and the guys wanted to talk Games Workshop here, but no I am no longer with GW so everything is fair game. That said I have nothing but good to say about Games Workshop myself, they were a great company to work for and the games are a blast.
So what are the Monday Night Gamers up to? I have only been back active on game nights for a few weeks now and it has been all Call of Cthulhu so far. Good fun, been a long time since I was in a role playing game and everyone bar one was eaten by monsters the other night and that is what is all about in the end. Next week is a World War Two skirmish using some experimental rules that someone sent Ed. They look interesting, a real people focus rather than a gear focus like so many WW2 games have.
At Cold Wars this year we ran a good suite of games. I ran a safari game that went well, only one safari was wiped out without achieving their goal so I will toughen it up for Historicon. Jeff ran a great WW2 sewer game under the streets of Stalingrad. Brendan ran his French Foreign Legion game with the stout defenders of Fort Zindernuff getting slaughtered as usual. Ed ran a Barbary Coast anti-piracy raid a couple of times, not sure how these turned out but our playtest was a bloodbath.

We wouldn’t have all been eaten by monsters if they’d let me have the broomhandle Mauser and the M1918 Browning light machinegun.

If only Napoleon had had a B52 at Waterloo…
